With spring just a few days away, knowing what is in for the season is a must for all fashion lovers. To put together the perfect spring wardrobe, just follow these fashion trends.

Cold Shoulders: This season puts emphasis on one specific part of the body- shoulders. With the new trend of shoulder cut-out and off-shoulder tops and dresses, you can do no wrong. This style highlights the shoulders and the collarbones, leaving a flattering effect for all shapes and sizes.Whether it is in the form of a long sleeve bodycon dress, a loose crop top, or a thin knit sweater, like the one seen on the Prabal Gurung runway show, the “cold shoulder” style will never disappoint.

Lingerie sees daylight: Lingerie styled slip-on dresses are no longer just for sleeping. Why not wear it where everyone can see how fabulous you look in it? That thought is exactly what influenced designers of Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Balenciaga, and Alexander Wang to send girls in silky and lacy slips down their runways.

Plenty of Pleats: Pleats are starting a revolution this season. Pushing away from the stereotype of only being worn by preppy school girls, they are evolving into styles that can be liked by anyone. The most popular style of pleats seen on fashion shows of Boss, Tanya Taylor, and Emilio Pucci was the micro pleats. These tiny, delicate pleats add a flirty and feminine feel to any look for any occasion.

Ruffles Take Over: During the Spring 2016 fashion shows, ruffles were everywhere. Whether for a girly look or simply to add some spice to an outfit, ruffles are the perfect choice. They are just elaborate enough to ensure that your looks are never boring. For example, Roberto Cavalli sent down a look consisting of a basic tee paired with a leather mini under a ruffled wrap which hung over the skirt. With all the varieties of garments with ruffles this season, you will without a doubt find one that fits your personal style.

Nothing But Net: For those of you who are a little more edgy with your style, or simply wish to add a hint of edge, spring fashion has got something for you as well. Garments made of nets were very popular on Spring 2016 runway shows of Marchesa, Alexander Wang, Tome, Proenza Schouler, and many more.

Tie-Dye is Not Dead: Now here is a 70’s trend that will not give up without a fight. Tie-dyed garments showed up on runways of Altuzarra in the shape of a funky, clasp-down green dress, of Emilio Pucci in a sophisticated, pastel colored sweater and skirt, and of Valentino in an oversized, retro hoodie. No matter what style, color, or shape, you cannot go wrong with a little bit (or a lot) of tie-dye.

Color of the Year: For the first time ever, the color of the year, determined by Pantone, is the blend of the two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity. The gentle tone of Rose Quartz and the weightless and airy feel of Serenity make for a perfect shade, especially for the spring, when soft and beautiful colors are especially in the spotlight. According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Institute, the two shades “demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”

When considering which looks fit best with your style, remember to be open to trying new styles. You never know what you might fall in love with.
